Digging in for a Cause: Join Us in Cultivating the Victory Garden's Bounty!

Our community is excited to dive into the rich soil of the Victory Garden once again. Volunteers were buzzing around, planting seeds with enthusiasm. This gardening effort is not just about growing food; it is about nourishing our community and supporting local families in need through donations to our food bank.

With Judy Kennedy stepping back from her important role, Alison has graciously taken over the helm, ensuring that this garden continues its mission. This year, we emphasize the importance of community involvement as we plant seeds that will be part of a greater good.

The Heart of the Victory Garden

Located behind the Marlboro Lodge Museum, the Victory Garden represents resilience and unity in our community. Inspired by the gardening movement during World War II, Victory Gardens were originally created to combat food shortages and promote self-sufficiency. Today, our garden serves the same purpose. It not only provides fresh produce to the local food bank but also brings together individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

As we enter another planting season, it's vital to recall the spirit of this initiative: growing food to share. Each bed in our garden is filled with potential. Last year, we yielded an abundance of fresh vegetables and herbs for donation. Our volunteers have the chance to work in the soil while connecting with neighbors, learning new skills, and positively impacting the lives of those who depend on the food bank.

Alison welcomes ideas and suggestions, encouraging everyone to share their thoughts on what to grow and how to care for the plants. This collaborative approach ensures that every voice is valued and that we all learn from one another. This planting season will be an exciting journey, and we look forward to seeing the fruits and vegetables our teamwork will yield!

Volunteer Opportunities

Gardening is a communal effort, and our Victory Garden thrives thanks to the hands and hearts of dedicated volunteers. If you’re interested in gardening or just want to pitch in, we welcome you! There’s always plenty to do, from watering and weeding to planting and harvesting.

No experience? Not a problem! Our experienced gardeners are more than willing to share their knowledge and guide newcomers. You don't need prior gardening skills to get involved; all you need is a willingness to learn and help.

Whether you can contribute a few hours for a one-time event or commit to a regular schedule, your help makes a significant difference. Even the small tasks, like weeding or sowing seeds, contribute to our overall success in providing fresh produce to the community.

Get Involved!

Are you ready to roll up your sleeves for a good cause? If you’d like to volunteer in the Victory Garden, please reach out via email. Let us know your availability and any specific skills or interests you wish to contribute. We welcome all helpers, whether you can donate a few hours a week or just drop by occasionally. Every bit of assistance counts!

Gardening goes beyond just physical labor; it’s a fantastic way to relax, connect with nature, and meet others who are passionate about giving back. Imagine the joy of harvesting fresh tomatoes or snipping fragrant basil, knowing your efforts will directly benefit those in need.

The Impact of Your Contribution

Every donation to the food bank truly matters. When our plants begin to bear fruit, they play a crucial role in alleviating food insecurity in our area. Fresh produce is often difficult for those in need to find, and your hard work means that families can enjoy nutritious meals filled with ingredients grown with care.

By volunteering, you are not just planting seeds in the ground; you are planting seeds of hope. Your contribution strengthens community bonds and fosters goodwill and support among us all.

Join us this season, and let’s create a bountiful garden that reflects the heart of our community spirit!
