This week, students from Langton Public School teamed up with longtime Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society volunteer Carol Milroy to prepare the Victory Garden for another season of giving. With gloves on and trowels in hand, these enthusiastic young gardeners helped turn over the soil, pull weeds, and plant a variety of vegetables that will be donated to the local food bank later this summer.
In addition to the Victory Garden, the students also planted and tidied up the Langton Public School Community Garden, bringing fresh life and colour to their school grounds. Two of our dedicated members, Dan and Ron, generously volunteered their time and skills to rebuild several of the raised garden beds—ensuring they are sturdy and ready to support a fruitful season.
Many of the students involved are part of the school’s Practical Academics & Life Skills Program, and it was inspiring to see them working with such care, focus, and joy. Their efforts not only support local food security but also demonstrate a beautiful spirit of giving back. It was a heartwarming day of learning, growing, and community-building—proof that when we dig in together, great things can bloom.
